We are often asked if one can write with a pen on our Real Wood Paper sheets. Why yes you can! However, make sure it is a standard ball point pen and not a pen with really wet ink. Wet inks tend to bleed and follow the grain of the wood. With the right pen…You can write, you can draw, you can do it all!
In our project sample, we have used our 5″ x 7″ Birch Wood Back .025″ thick Long Grain sheets and a black ball point pen. (Short Grain also available.) Our talented artist just “doodled some flowers” during a meeting. The only limitation is your own imagination. Have fun “doodling” your own beautiful images for cards, postcards, invitations or whatever your heart desires.
As we’ve continued to get more inquiries regarding writing on our Real Wood Paper Sheets, we’ve come back to this post and added more pens that we’ve tested. As you can see, this wasn’t a fancy test with professional photography but an actual “use what’s on my desk” test. In this test, I used a scrap piece of Aspen Fleece back as it is one of the grainier woods that wet ink will make a mess of. And as you can see, no bleeding by any of them!
